Fraternal Order of Police
Minutes September 6th, 2011
The regular monthly meeting was held Sept. 6th, 2011, at the Knights
of Columbus in Hollidaysburg PA.
All lodge officers were present except President Kovel, Conductor Hetzel, and
Chaplain Flanagan.
Vice President (VP) Cornelius led the members in attendance with the Pledge of
Allegiance and the opening prayer.
MOTION
made by Brother Osman and second by Brother Patrick to deviate from normal
business so guest speakers Steven Snook, Mifflin County District Attorney, and
Corey Snook, Juniata County District Attorney(No relation) could address the
group reference their requesting the Lodge to support them in the upcoming
election. Motion passed.
Aflac representative Dan McIntrye was also present prior to the meeting starting
in case anybody wanted to speak with him reference the same. He related he
planned on attending the October meeting as well in case any members were
interested in Aflac or had any questions.

made by Brother Neil and second by Brother Bush to waive the reading of the
previous minutes. Motion passed.
SICKNESS
REPORTS OF FINANCIAL SECRETARY/TREASURER –
Treasurers report provided by Brother Cunningham. Special Accounts report
provided by VP Cornelius.

made by Brother Bob Kovel and second by Sister Nancy Kovel to accept the
reports. Motion passed.
REPORTS OF COMMITTEES

October 12/2011 – Lodge 57 Associate member Shrimp feed at the Bedford American
Legion.(downstairs)
Vice Pres. Cornelius spoke about the Lodge gun raffle. It is requested that any
member with unsold tickets please let him know as soon as possible so we have an
idea of how many unsold tickets are left out there.

GOOD OF THE ORDER –
Brother Friedenberger spoke about the Memorial Bridge dedication being held this
Thursday Sept 8th in Hollidaysburg at the Canal Base Park for Tpr Dan
Lightner who died during active duty. The dedication is set to begin at 11:00 AM
in the park if weather is decent and indoors at the Knights of Columbus if the
weather is bad. Food and refreshments will be available afterwards at the
Knights of Columbus sponsored by Lodge # 57.
Vice Pres. Cornelius spoke about the National Convention in Salt Lake City Utah.
VP Cornelius also mentioned the idea of Lodge # 57 having a Christmas Party. No
further discussion at this time.
Brother Patrick spoke about the meeting with the Captain. The Captain would like
to see each stations Lodge Reps at the monthly meeting which is held the first
Tuesday of every month. The station Reps schedule should be a scheduled daylight
that day so they can attend.
Treasurer Cunningham related the Captain is looking into having a Memorial Stone
at the Hollidaysburg station near the flag pole in honor of our
brothers(Troopers) that have lost their lives in the line of duty. The Captain
is working with our Lodge on the same and wants to see the same move forward as
soon as possible.

delegates to the September Round Robin. Motion passed.
MOTION
made by Brother Stanek and second by brother Friedenberger to have a monument
committee put together so we can move forward as soon as possible with the Troop
G Headquarters monument. Motion passed

made by brother Bush and second by brother B Kovel to endorse Steve Snook for
Mifflin County District Attorney. Motion passed.

made by brother B Kovel and second by brother Reese to endorse Corey Snook for
Juniata County District Attorney. Motion passed.

the Lodge, Motion passed.
