Fraternal Order of Police

Minutes May 4th, 2010

The regular monthly meeting was held May 4th, 2010 at the Alexandria Fire Hall in Huntingdon PA.

The following Lodge officers were not present; Vice President Cornelius, Trustees Bob Kovel & Ray Neil, and Conductor Weimer.

President Kovel led the members in attendance with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Chaplain Flanagan gave the opening prayer.

MOTION made by Brother Lynn and second by Brother Flanagan to waive the reading of the previous minutes. Motion passed.

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS – None

REPORTS OF FINANCIAL SECRETARY/TREASURER – Treasurers report provided by Brother Cunningham.

MOTION made by Brother Flanagan and second by Brother Sneath to accept the reports. Motion passed.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES – President Kovel spoke about the upcoming FOP family picnic at Del Grosso park.

BALLOTING OF CANIDIDATES – None

READING OF COMMUNICATIONS – President Kovel read a letter received from the State FOP reference a $300.00 scholarship award that is available for college students of members.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS – Retirement certificates are in the process.

NEW BUSINESS – None

GOOD OF THE ORDER – Treasurer Cunningham discussed the meeting with the Captain.

MOTION made by brother Leon Wagner to send the maximum number of delegates allowed to the state FOP convention in Philadelphia and second by brother Bill Wagner. Motion passed.

MOTION made by brother Lynn and seconded by brother Flanagan to send a $100.00 donation to Kathleen at the PSTA office in support of her running in the Law Enforcement Memorial Run in DC. Motion passed.

MOTION made by brother Flanagan and second by brother Lynn to purchase (3) raffle tickets for a 50/50 raffle which supports the state FOP auxiliary. Each ticket $25.00. motion passed.

MOTION made by brother Campbell and second by Brother Lenhart to pay the bills against the Lodge, Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Flanagan to Adjourn, second by Brother Leon Wagner, motion passed.

May 12-14/10 – Law Enforcement Memorial Run

May 15/10 – National Law Enforcement Memorial

May 19-20/10 – PSTA/FOP Round Robin at the Bedford Springs in Bedford PA

July 06/10 – FOP family picnic at Bland’s park. ACTIVE members  $20 per family  and RETIRED members $15 per family.

July 25/10 Sunday – 14th annual “CC Riders” Bedford County Camp Cadet motorcycle ride/fundraiser at the Alum Bank VFD in Bedford County.

Aug 3/10 – Steak & Corn feed at Lake Raystown pavilion. August FOP meeting.

Aug 8-12/20 – State FOP convention in Philadelphia PA

Sept. 16/10- National Troopers Coalition (NTC) Picnic scheduled for Boston Harbor Massachusetts. (Date and locations subject to change.)

October 13/10 – Lodge 57 Associate member Shrimp Feed at the Bedford American Legion.

 

JUNE MEETING at the Knights of Columbus in Hollidaysburg PA,  June 1st  at 7:30PM
