Fraternal Order of Police

Minutes March 2nd, 2010

 

The regular monthly meeting was held March 2nd 2010, at the Knights of Columbus in Hollidaysburg PA.

All lodge officers were present.

President Kovel led the members in attendance with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Chaplain Flanagan gave the opening prayer.

MOTION made by Brother Neil and second by Brother Ritter to waive the reading of the previous minutes. Motion passed.

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS – Brother Elmer Landis passed away-Donation made to Bedford Inc Landscaping/brick donation for the same. Brother Randy Carothers Mother passed away 03/01/10. Brother Rus Miller is recovering from heart surgery.

REPORTS OF FINANCIAL SECRETARY/TREASURER – Treasurers report provided by Brother Cunningham, Special accounts report provided by Vice President Darrin Cornelius.

MOTION made by Brother Sechoka and second by Brother Flanagan to accept the reports. Motion passed.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES – Brother Mcgarvey gave report on the family picnic.

FOP Family Picnic is Tuesday July 6th 2010 at Bland’s Park.

RETIRED MEMBERS $15.00 PER FAMILY

 

BALLOTING OF CANIDIDATES –None

READING OF COMMUNICATIONS –  The Lodge received request from Bedford and Fulton Camp Cadet for donation.  

Lodge received request from Brother Mark Glistas daughter Anjelica Glista, for donation to support her in going to Australia in the People To People exchange student program.

Brothers Mcgarvey, Joe Sigich, and Jeff Hetzel plan to attend the National Memorial.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS – Discussed retirement gifts. Secretary Evans will be looking into certificates for retirees from the Lodge.

   Brother Hawk spoke about the RETIRED POLICE OFFICERS PROGRAM TO CARRY FIREARMS. He related retirees can get their new ID cards at PSP Hollidaysburg but should call and make arrangements with PCO Schmidt or Simpson before going. PLEASE DO NOT JUST SHOW UP. Hawk related after completing the course you can carry a firearm Nationwide but must carry the type of gun you complete the course with. Example, if you qualify with a revolver you can carry any revolver but not pistols unless take test with a pistol.

NEW BUSINESS – None

GOOD OF THE ORDER – President Kovel spoke about the Board of Directors meeting. Related PSTA will be supporting Tom Corbett for Governor.

MOTION made by Brother Neil and seconded by Brother Sechoka to send $250 donation to both Bedford and Fulton Camps as well as Centre County Camp Cadet. Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Bob Kovel and seconded by Brother Sechoka to send Brother Glistas daughter a donation of $100.00 towards her People To People Program. Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Hawk and second by Brother Mcgarvey to pay the bills against the Lodge, Motion passed.

October 13/2010 – Lodge 57 Associate member Shrimp feed.
