Fraternal Order of Police

Minutes June 1st, 2010

The regular monthly meeting was held June 1st 2010, at the Knights of Columbus in Hollidaysburg PA.

All lodge officers were present except Vice President Cornelius, Conductor Weimer and Guard Johns.

President Kovel led the members in attendance with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Chaplain Flanagan gave the opening prayer.

MOTION made by Brother Neil and second by Brother Reese to waive the reading of the previous minutes. Motion passed.

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS – Brother Ralph Molovich currently is battling liver cancer.

REPORTS OF FINANCIAL SECRETARY/TREASURER – Treasurers report provided by Brother Cunningham.

MOTION made by Brother Sneath and second by Brother Hawk to accept the reports. Motion passed.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES – President Kovel gave report on the family picnic.

FOP Family Picnic is Tuesday July 6^th 2010 at Bland’s Park.

BALLOTING OF CANIDIDATES –None

READING OF COMMUNICATIONS – The FOP State Lodge is holding a grievance and arbitration seminar in Altoona this month.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS – Discussed retirement certificates getting completed.

NEW BUSINESS – None

GOOD OF THE ORDER – President Kovel spoke about the May Round Robin.

MOTION made by Brother Bill Wagner and seconded by Brother Hanna to donate $100.00 to Logan Twp Police Officer Bill Burroughs to assist with his travel expenses. Burrough is making repeated trips to Pittsburgh where he is receiving treatment for bone marrow and blood cancer. Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Hanna and seconded by Brother Reese to split the cost with the Boro for the Memorial Plaque for Danny Lightnour which is being placed in Hollidaysburg Boro.

MOTION made by Brother Hawk and second by Brother Sneath to pay the bills against the Lodge, Motion passed.

Aug 8-12/20 – State FOP convention in Philadelphia PA

Sept. 16/10- National Troopers Coalition (NTC) Picnic scheduled for Boston Harbor Massachusetts. (Date and locations subject to change.)

October 13/2010 – Lodge 57 Associate member Shrimp feed at the Bedford Legion.

August meeting is the steak and corn feed at lake raystown Allegheny pavalian. Dinner at 6:00pm. Meeting immediately after dinner.
