Fraternal Order of Police

Minutes April 5th, 2011

 

 

 

The regular monthly meeting was held April 5th 2011, at the Bedford American Legion in Bedford PA.

All lodge officers were present except Chaplain Flanagan and Trustee Robert Kovel.

President Kovel led the members in attendance with the Pledge of Allegiance and the opening prayer.

MOTION made by Brother Ritter and second by Brother Hawk to deviate from normal business so guest could speak. Motion passed.

The following guest speakers addressed members of the Lodge;  Aflac representatives spoke reference Aflac insurance, District Judge Jonathan Grine running for Centre County Court of Common Pleas Judge, Sheriff Charin Reichelderfer running for Sheriff again, and Harry Evans running for Bedford County Coroner.

MOTION made by Brother Neil and second by Brother Sneath to waive the reading of the previous minutes. Motion passed.

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS – None

REPORTS OF FINANCIAL SECRETARY/TREASURER – Treasurers report provided by Brother Cunningham. Special Accounts report prepared by Vice President Cornelius and given by President Kovel.

MOTION made by Brother Johns and second by Brother Hetzel to accept the report. Motion passed.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES – None

FOP Family Picnic is Tuesday July 5th 2011 at Bland’s Park.

 

BALLOTING OF CANIDIDATES – Application for active membership.  Elmer Hertzog Jr who is stationed at the Huntingdon County station applied. He supplied the Lodge with sufficient fees for membership.

Motion made by Brother Mitchell and seconded by Brother Sneath to accept the application. Motion passed.

READING OF COMMUNICATIONS – The Lodge received Thank you letters and cards due to Lodge 57 donating to the same. Center and Bedford County Camp Cadets, Andrea Johns & Penn State medical center for the Four Diamonds Fund, and Tpr Gearhart & family.

UNFINSIHED BUSINESS - President Kovel spoke about the gun raffle ticket/fund raiser for the Lodge. Tickets are now available.

NEW BUSINESS – President Kovel spoke about the National Convention in August.

MOTION made by Brother Guyer and second by brother Ritter to send the maximum number of delegates to the National Convention in August. Motion passed.

GOOD OF THE ORDER – President Kovel spoke about the meeting with the Colonel.

MOTION by Brother Hershey and seconded by brother Hetzel to donate $100.00 to Kathleen at the PSTA office for the Law Enforcement Memorial Run in DC. Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Ritter and seconded by Brother Hawk to endorse Jonathan Grine for Centre County Judge. Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Neil and second by Brother Hershey to endorse Charwin Reichelderfer for Sheriff. Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Sneath and seconded by Brother Ritter to remove tabled motion from March meeting reference D.A. George Zanick and discuss the same. Motion passed

MOTION made by Brother Sneath and second by Brother Johns to endorse George Zanick for Huntingdon County DA.  Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Johns and second by Brother Ritters to pay the bills against the Lodge, Motion passed.

MOTION made by Brother Johns and seconded by brother Hartman to Adjourn. Motion passed

Denne Osman’s retirement party is May 14th at the Bedford Legion(downstairs). RSVP to Darrin Cornelius or Doug Evans by May 3rd.

Sept. 12/2011- (Monday) attentively scheduled, National Troopers Coalition (NTC) Picnic. POSSIBLY Looking at New York City Metropolitan area or Southern NY or Northern NJ area (location to be announced.)

October 12/2011 – Lodge 57 Associate member Shrimp feed at the Bedford American Legion.

 

NEXT MEETING, May 3rd at 7:30 PM, scheduled to be held at The Alexandria V.F.D. in Huntingdon County.
