COLA UPDATE
COLA update concerning HB 2379 and HB 2084. On April 29, 2008 the House State Government Committee met to consider HB 2084, a COLA bill introduced by Representative Gibbons on December 5, 2007. At this time a motion was made to amend the bill by stripping the language of HB 2084 and inserting the language of HB 2379 (COLA) which had been introduced by Representative Nickol and 154 other sponsors on April 15, 2008. The motion to amend carried and HB 2084 was voted out of the committee. HB 2084 was reported as amended with first consideration and laid on the table on May 5, 2008. HB 2084 was removed from the table and re-committed to Appropriations on May 6, 2008.

The PSTA has finalized the initial contract proposals for the up-coming 2008 negotiations. The next contract will cover July 1, 2008 forward. I am attaching the submitted contract proposals for information purposes. If you have any questions regarding rumors, PLEASE CONTACT ME PRIOR to spreading same. The best advised I can give is if you have not seen it in writing or heard it from a member of the PSTA Negotiation Committee, disregard it. Thank you.

The lodge offers its congratulations and support to President Joseph Kovel on his election to the position of Secretary on the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association Executive Board. The election was held at the January 2008 Round Robin held in Harrisburg. Brother Kovel will be serving a two year term. Congratulations and Good Luck Joe. |
Use of PSP Honor Guard: Members are reminded that the Honor Guard is available for funeral detail of any member active or retired. The family MUST request the the unit through the local troop. All requests should be honored. If any problems are encountered, the family should contact a local lodge representative as soon as possible in order to address and resolve the issue. Retirees: Retirees are reminded to up-date any changes in beneficiary or address change to SERS and their respective insurance carriers.
Members are reminded that their 2008 dues should be paid by March 1, 2008.
Active - $35.50 / Retired - $25.50.
